Tips for deterring thieves

Here’s some handy tips for how to deter thieves (h/t TPM).

I am going to install some speakers and start blasting “Jingle Dogs”, and teach Sasha (my dog) how to harmonize with them. 🙂

Enjoy life

A reporter asks a question:

Grilling some meats is reputed to increase cancer risk thanks in part to chemical compounds called HCAs, which form at high temperatures. So what’s a July 4th cook to do?

Their answer: Grill tofu.

My answer? Grill more meat — preferably beef, or something you killed yourself like venison — and eat it. Wash it down with a beer.

Life. You’ll never get out alive, so enjoy it while you have it. 🙂

My head asplode

Yesterday I saw a Prius with both a “Repeal Obamacare” and NRA sticker on it. Couldn’t get a picture since I was driving.

I guess it’s all part of keeping Austin weird, or at least, busting stereotypes.

I love the Alamo Drafthouse

You know why I love the Alamo Drafthouse?

Numerous reasons. Mind you, I’m not the biggest movie go-er, but when I go, the Drafthouse makes for a great experience. The seats are comfortable, not just cushy and wide enough to fit my 6’3″ frame, but also there’s loads of leg room.. .again for my 6’3″ frame. Of course, the fact there’s excellent food and beer is a wonderful thing too. All the various special events are awesome. Family pretty much refuses to see movies anywhere else, and generally that works out because most any movie worth seeing ends up being shown at the Drafthouse.

But the biggest reason is they take their movie-watching seriously…. as this girl found out:

Awesome. One more reason to love the Drafthouse. 🙂

Great White attracted to AC/DC

Seems that Great White’s are attracted to AC/DC.

I’m glad that Jack Russell likes Angus Young so much….

And what happens if the shark bites you once? Twice shy?

It’s almost like Ratt being attracted to Metallica.

Or Scorpions attracted to Bon Jovi.

Whitesnake’s being attracted to Black Sabbath.

Or Rhino Bucket being attracted to… well, they’re so much like AC/DC anyways.

OK… weak joke. Yeah. 🙂

The Ding-a-Lings

Carnac: The Ding-a-Lings

Question: Who is managing the US economy these days?

🙂

Was flipping through channels this morning and Carson Comedy Classics was on. This was one of Carnac’s answer/questions.

Amazing (sad?) how the more things (hope and) change, the more things stay the same.

Mystery rocker found!

Behold the power of the Internet!

The Mystery Rocker has been found!

See their Facebook page.

In a way, you wish it could have gone on longer and gotten bigger. But the bottom line is the guy was found, and that’s pretty cool. 🙂

Updated: and shortly after they found him and gave the update, they disabled and deleted everything. I have to respect that, because all they wanted to do was find the guy, not turn him into a meme (tho I’m sure he’ll be a minor one); nor viral marketing or anything like that. Just the power of the Internet. 🙂

Find the Mystery Rocker

Is it real? is it noble? is it viral marketing? Who cares. It seems like fun, and yeah, something about it seems legit (despite the slick editing).

Updated: They found the guy.
