InSights Training Blog
The InSights Training Center now has a blog. Just started up, but already has good stuff on it. InSights is a solid school. I’ve taken some courses from them and desire to take more of their courses.

Blog fiddling
While I like the theme being used on my blog, there are a few things I didn’t like about it. I just purchased the CSS Upgrade and am fiddling around with it to tweak the look of the blog to my liking.
One thing was I felt that links were not distinct enough and people were missing them. So, that’s the first thing remedied. We’ll see what else I do. Never worked with CSS before, so this is all new to me. If you note any problems, please comment so I can fix them.

Temporary silence
Blogging has been light.
I’ve been busy.
Going on the hunt threw off the clockwork of the household so I’m trying to get back on track.
Upstairs A/C seems to be not cooling (it’s hot up here), so someone’s coming tomorrow to look at it.
Safari 4 is so much faster than Safari 3. I’m quite impressed.
Just got a bunch of little things to tend to, including some blog postings that I just haven’t had time for yet.
Hoping to remedy soon.

But in the meantime, I must say… smoked the hog backstraps on Sunday. Mmmm. Â And all day long I’ve been tending to a couple of the hams on the smoker. Should make for some good supper. Took the rest of the piggy parts to the local butcher to make into pan/breakfast sausage. Can’t wait for that.
Anyway, gotta tend to other business. I’ll be back.
Lack of stuff
Hi folks.
Sorry for the lack of stuff. It’s been a very busy past few days topped off today by the ceiling fan in the master bedroom peeding out (Youngest turned on the light and said sparks came down). A few back and forths to Home Depot, and we’ve got ourselves a nice new and very pretty ceiling fan… goes with the fixtures from the master bathroom renovation we did a little while back. So… I’ve just been away from the keyboard and have much to catch up on.

So why do this?
So ok, let’s start making some content, shall we?
First, I’m still figuring out how WordPress works and how things are set up here, so I’m sure I’m going to make some stupid mistakes at first. Plus I’m sure things will be in a state of flux until I’ve got things as I like them. And even then I reserve the right to change my mind.
So why did I want to start blogging? And what took me so long to do it?
I didn’t want to blog because I thought it rather arrogant to think that anyone would give a rat’s ass what I have to say. I still think that. I also know that once you put something out online, it’s extremely difficult to make it go away. In real life if you make a mistake or say something you shouldn’t have, eventually it’s lost into the air and life goes on. But if you screw up online, it can stick around for the rest of your life. What doesn’t help is the world has just enough mean people in it that take great joy in digging up dirt and holding your past mistakes over you. Well, let ’em cast their stones.
But the past some months I felt rather a large pull to start shooting my mouth off in a public way, and I got to a point where I really didn’t care any more what others thought. Voices remaining quiet is what allows ugly things to happen, and I feel too many ugly things are happening now, and I want to say my piece about it all. I don’t expect to change the world nor am I setting out to. This is mostly just a place for me to share my thoughts and feelings with whomever wants to spend their time reading about it.
I often describe myself as “just some guy”. When I say this, I mean just that… I’m just some guy. I’m no one special. In the grander scheme of the cosmos, with the millions of years prior to now and the millions of years yet to come, of all the planets and solar systems and universes out there, I know that we’re all rather insignificant in the grander scheme of it all (anyone for live organ transplant?). And while I have my arrogant tendencies, I tend to know my place. As I grow older, I find greater satisfaction in humility. But even a humble person needs to speak up now and again. I try to be humble, but I’m not a doormat.
So what will be in this blog? Whatever the hell I want to write about. And yes, I said hell and I might even say shit damn or fuck now and again. I’m an adult, I expect my readers to be adults — and that’s more a commentary on attitude and behavior than age.

Well, I decided to do it. I decided to finally get off my duff and get a blog.
If you check out my http://www.hsoi.com/hsoishop/workshop/ you’ll see that long ago I attempted something like a blog, but this was really before blogging-specific software, like WordPress existed. It was just too cumbersome for me to deal with the manual pages, so I never went that far with it.  I actually want to host my blog on my hsoi.com website, but I just haven’t had the opportunity to get it set up there. But I’ve wanted to start shooting my mouth off for some time now, and it appears that I can start here with WordPress’ hosting then later when I move things to my own website I can export all the data and move it to my own hosted blog later on. Sure it’ll be a bit of a pain with URL changes, but life will go on.
So anyways, here we go.
