Sumo deadlifts: 405x5@8 . I’ve been using sumos as assistance work. Not only do I think it’s been helpful, but I actually like them (it’s cheating so… 🤷‍♂️😄). With my change to squats, I opted to opted to change day 2 to focus on sumos as a primary (instead of more squats). Still about reps tho, not max singles. . The workup to 405 was a good place to start. . Assistance work remains mostly the same. Changed the lat raises to leaning cable raises; I like the added ROM. . Sumo deadlift (5@8, 85%x5, 65%x5, 50%x10). Leg extensions (myo). Leg curls (myo). 1-arm leaning cable lateral raises. Bench Press: 310x1@8.5 . Feeling a bit blah today. Bench reflected that (note bar path). . I’m enjoying doing lots of back off sets, reverse pyramiding down and cranking out reps. A fun challenge for rep PRs and chasing a pump. . Bench press (1@8, -12.5%x3, then more backoffs). BB Rows. Lat pulldowns. Hex DB holds. SSB Squat: 365x1@8, 315x4@8. . That scene in “Pumping Iron” of Arnold and Ed Corney squatting? I caught that the other day and thought: that’s a fun challenge/goal: squat 315 for 11 reps. My current goal is becoming lean, so my lifting is to strive to maintain strength and muscle mass. So why not try fun challenges that are in line with my goal? . Ultimately it’s about hitting 315 for 11 reps. And Ed used a straight bar, not an SSB. But whatever; it’s the spirit and challenge. Did an over-warmup to 365, then the 315. The approach is to work up to 11 unbroken reps. I cannot do that yet, so I will take as many sets as I need to total 11 reps, each session striving for 11 on that first set. Today 4 on the first set felt @8 and like a good place to start. followed with a set of 4 then of 3. . This will be fun! . SSB Squat (1@8, 315x4, x4, x3). Hyperextensions. Planks. Rope-handle hammer curls (myo).
