Uh… guns, politics, beer, lifting weights, heavy metal, computers, programming. You know, blog topics.
Busy today so far, busy day ahead. I’ll write more later if I can.
In other news, I think puppy wants to play the deer that wander into our backyard area. We haven’t known what to make of how she acts around the deer… until this morning, when a doe came up to the fence to eat and Sasha started making play requests (the body posture, the bark, etc.). Deer didn’t want to play. 🙂
Oh… anyone in Austin, do you know if there’s any store in town that sells Speer Gold Dot .357 Magnum 135 grain? I want to try some out.
Have you check with GT?
If their website is any indication, they don’t have it. They carry the 125 grain, but not the 135 grain short barrel.
From what I remember they don’t have all their stock of ammo online.
Try Storied Firearms off 290W past the Y.

Talk to Charlie, Cherie or Karl
Called, Lady on the phone said “probably do not, would have to order”.
I’m finding people have the .357 Mag 125 grain, but not the 135 grain short barrel. That’s the rub. No matter to order it online, but was just seeing if there was a chance I could get some before Saturday.
I’ve seen the 135 grain at GT. You have to call the store, since they sometimes stock things that aren’t on the website.
Ah, so they have carried it. Cool. I figured they or McBride’s would be the best bet. I’ll try again later, when I have time.
Between those two, I’d definitely hit up GT first. Their prices are far and away better.
Cabellas is right down the road…
Was there this weekend. They didn’t have it.
No help here on the ammo problem, but I had to laugh at the image of the dog and the deer! Espeically since I can see my puppy doing the same thing….
We’ve long been puzzled by her behavior regarding the deer. Her actions with them was unlike anything else, so we didn’t know what to make of it. Most of the time she would just sit and watch. Alert, but not “on”. Not too far away, not too close. Never bark. Was she watching them to guard them? Was she trying to figure them out? Hard to really tell.
Yesterday’s little romp may have been a one-off… need to continue to watch. But either way, I don’t think the deer want to play with her. 🙂
I can see where they might appear as a possible playmate, she’s certinally big enough not to be intimidated. Apollo does the same sit and watch with strange dogs he’s not allowed to approach (one of our neighbors has husky’s, and he likes to just sit and watch), considering his approach with other dogs I feel safe assuming that if they were close enough he’d be offering to play (the only dog thats ever intimidated him is the white psycotic male german shepherd down the road, everyone else is to PLAY with). We’ve not had deer in the yard yet where he was able to see them, but I think the fun one is going to be the wild turkeys that wander through regularly. Ought to be interesting to watch that interaction!
Sasha does the same sort of play behaviors with our cats… and they are far smaller than her (and just as uninterested in playing with her).
Yeah, turkeys should be interesting to watch. 🙂
We’ve resolved that if Sasha ever catches something (she’s chasing birds, squirrels, and perhaps now the deer) it’s hers to do with as she pleases. Of course, if she did bring down a deer uh… I might want to share. 😉
I’d want my share of the turkey too…..
