KrimeLabb – city-wide crime data for Austin

Man…. terrible name, but a nifty service. KrimeLabb, a database of crimes in Austin. You can look up by zipcode, address. See the list of offenses, map them out. It’s pretty cool.

It’s also a good lesson to people who think “it can’t happen to me… not in my neighborhood”. Oh yes… crime is happening all around you.

    • Austin’s had such a thing for a while, but the interface really sucked. This is a lot nicer.

But hey…. you want such a thing in your city? Tell your city council, mayor, etc. It’s your tax dollars.

  1. Thanks for using krimelabb. And yes the name is kinda annoying 🙂

There is a lot more behind the scenes…e.g. who has been arrested the most in your zip…

HINT: click on name in result set to view their rapsheet.

I do krimelabb for power users (free) to demo some of the cooler features. Let me know if you want to attend.

The goals is to make neighborhoods safer by tapping into the crowdsourcing power and creating lots of neighborhood crime analysts.

    Cheers,

    • Wow, lots more cool stuff there. I like that I can look things up by date range. That was going to be my first feature request.

As for demoing, sure.. drop me an email with the information. If scheduling permits, I’d like to attend.
