  1. “Staggering” is what the construction crews do after working all day in the hot sun, and sometimes after drinking a few too many beers at night…

    • Given some of the “finished” work I saw on the road? I’d say your definition was well-known to those folks.

  2. Dear John,

We are Oklahoma, we cannot repair roads fast enough after tornado damage. In the future, we suggest you drive through Arkansas. They have nicer mountains and better roads.

    Sincerely,

  3. I live 2 miles from work and go through 2 construction zones to get there. The road in front of the shop has been under construction for well over a year. It isn’t a mile long. Duit Construction spends more time knocking down power lines and cutting phone lines than they do spreading concrete.

The secret to I-35 south of OKC is to hop a mile east over to US-77 as soon as you see the brake lights for the construction zones.

…and if you thought our roads are bad in OK, you should stay away from the bridges. Potholes in bridges aren’t repaired until you can see daylight through them from underneath.

    • I knew you would understand the pain. 🙂

Wish I knew about US-77. But I’m sure next time I’m going through the area — even if it’s years from now — it’ll all still be under construction and the trick will still work.

  4. The I-35 stuff has been going on for years and is actually making fair progress. So many little local projects are going on that I suspect there’s some “stimulus money” involved to set some people to digging holes and others to fill them in.
