For those who don’t know, Geosynchronous Orbital satellites which are generally used for satellite internet, orbit about 36,000 km above the surface of the earth. The speed of light is 300,000 km/sec.
It takes 2 round trips (2 up and 2 down, 36,000 km each) for each connection. That’s 144,000 km which is 0.5 seconds of latency at a minimum.
Bandwidth can be okay, but latency will always be terrible.
