I’ve gone from pondering to purchasing.
I purchased a Comp-Tac combo pouch, holding 1 magazine and 1 flashlight. Been wearing it a little over an hour now. Sure it feels a little weird, but only because I’m not used to feeling 2 things pressing into my left side. That said, it’s actually pretty comfortable all things considered. I’ve been wearing an XD Gear double mag pouch for the past couple weeks because I had it and figured it’d be a good way to get used to wearing an OWB mag holster. By comparison, the Comp-Tac pouch is much more comfortable. I also notice the Comp-Tac pouch holds everything much closer to the body than the XD Gear pouch, and so far that feels like a good thing; it certainly helps the concealment factor.
Like all Comp-Tac gear, a little adjustment to your liking and it’ll hold things just fine. I did a little bit of drawing and holstering the items from the pouch and it works just fine. I of course now need to do a lot of practice with the pouch to get used to it, but that’s a good thing.
I’ll see how it goes in the coming weeks, but so far so good. I’m happy with the purchase.
I also picked up another MTAC holster. I already have and use the MTAC and wanted a second for redundancy. As soon as I opened the shipping package I took the holster, removed all the hardware, applied 2 coats of Obenauf Heavy Duty Leather Preservative, and am now letting the leather backing sit so the preservative settles in nicely. With all my sweat in this Texas heat, the leather is only going to last so long, thus why I wanted a second and wanted to protect this one from the get-go to give it the best shot at lasting as long as possible.
I have to give some praise to Comp-Tac. I received my order exactly 7 days after placing it. That’s placing the order, production time, packing time, shipping time, unpacking and trying it on. Granted I only live a couple hours drive from their facility so I’m not surprised that the USPS Priority Mail got it here in one day. I also appreciate how your order status is constantly updated. You can log into your account on their website and check status, and you also receive emails as things happen: from receiving the order, to going into production, to heading to shipping. It’s good stuff. Of course, it’s also a cool gimmick that they include a pack of Smarties with your order. I’ve always received great service from Comp-Tac, and between their service and product selection, I keep going back as a satisfied customer.
I took advantage of their sale myself and ordered an MTAC and mag holder for my Hi-Power today.
Another reason I acted now instead of later, that 15% off sale for the combo purchase. 🙂
You know, after you get the MTAC, you will have been an owner of the big 3 IWB holsters of this style: Crossbreed SuperTuck, MTAC, and Tucker’s The Answer. You should do a write-up doing some sort of compare/contrast of the 3 for their comfort, workmanship, similarities, differences, quality, etc..
I would have got The Answer but they don’t make one for the Hi-Power yet.
