So Sotomayor is now a member of SCOTUS.

I wanted to see how the vote broke down. The Washington Post has a breakdown of the vote.

They break it down by party, by state, by region, by gender (why not by race?), by boomer status, by next election year, and then… by astrological sign.

Leo’s and Libra’s seem to be big Sotomayor supporters. Taurus’ are about split evenly, but it seems Virgos in general have something against her. And apparently Edward Kennedy is a Pisces.

Hey Linoge! You seem to like making graphs and performing statistical analysis. I’d like to see some analysis of this. Maybe astrological signs should be the big issue in the next election.  You know… important things like that. 😉

    • Oh sorry! I didn’t mean that in a bad way! Gosh that did come out all wrong, didn’t it?

      I liked the work you did on the graphics; that was truly good stuff. What I think is silly is the Washington Post breaking out the vote based on astrological sign. I’d like to hope they were just being silly… but it was just too silly. And newspapers wonder why they’re dying.

      So my comment towards you was just thinking it’d be interesting if you put your graphic skills to work on the Post’s data and seeing what comes of it (hopefully a good laugh at the Post’s expense).

      Again, I’m sorry. I realize now that came out totally wrong! No offense meant, man.

      • Hey, no worries – I did not take it as an offense. I guess I needed a bigger smilie face.

        I would be all for breaking it down and graphically representing it on useful statistical determining factors (like age, political affiliation, gender, etc.). The “bite me” was more for the astrology nonsense, because I know somewhere, someone is doing that, and treating it as “serious” work.

        ‘Cause, you know, the internet is serious business.

        No offense taken, and sorry for the confusion :).

        • I just wasn’t sure… I figured you may have been joking, but when I went back to read what I wrote I realized it could have been taken wrong. Glad all is good. 🙂

          I’m trying to hope the astrology thing was just someone doing it on a lark for a bit of humor. I’m trying to not take it too seriously. But on the same token you have to shake your head a little bit and wonder.

    • Nope… not joking. I’ve got more important things to spend my time on… but I guess the Washington Post doesnt. 😉
