True Nutrition Whey Flavor #20 – Cookies and Cream

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Cookies and Cream.

Mmm… Good. Well, if you like something that’s kinda like drinking an Oreo cookie. And yes, you better mix this one in milk. 🙂

And it wasn’t too sweet. Just a nice flavor, not too strong, but not too weak either. I liked.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #19 – Watermelon Wave

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Watermelon Wave.

Another one that’s ok for what it is, but just too sweet for me. Just not my flavor preference. Heck, in a bag of Jolly Ranchers, watermelon is my least favorite.

But I still get a kick out of watching the color change when the powder mixes with the liquid.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #18 – Concord Grape Juice

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Concord Grape Juice.

When you think of this flavor you think of Welch’s. And, it was true to that sort of flavor.

Of course, it turned purple in milk (purple cow, anyone?).

I do not really care for the Welch’s Concord Grape… jelly, juice, whatever. It’s too sweet to me, and tastes more like a candy than a grape. But this mix wasn’t as sweet as I was fearing. I actually kinda liked it. It’s not what I’d normally go for, but really, I could see drinking this again. I’m not sure about 10# worth of the stuff, but yeah, I could go for it again.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #17 – Vanilla Birthday Cake

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Vanilla Birthday Cake.

I’m not sure how to describe it, other than yeah…. it was like a vanilla cake. I am pretty impressed at how true the flavors generally are. In the past I’ve had things that said they tasted like X but didn’t actually taste like X, so this is welcome to see accurate descriptions… especially on as fine-grained a difference as “birthday cake” vs. say just a straight vanilla.

This was pretty good.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #16 – Tropical Hawaiian Punch

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Tropical Hawaiian Punch

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse…. 🙂

Forbidden Fruit Punch was one thing… this was…. worse. It brought a pineapple and coconut type of flavor to the fruit punch. And while I adore fresh pineapple, candy pineapple flavors just make me wretch because it’s so far from the real thing. So sweet. So… fake.

But again, that’s just my palate. Oldest tried a taste and he really liked it.

He can have it. 🙂

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #15 – Forbidden Fruit Punch

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Forbidden Fruit Punch.

The “lambada” of flavors. 🙂

Um…. no.

First thought through my head? Fruit punch and milk don’t go together.

Second thought? Holy crap, that’s pink! Remember when you mixed up your strawberry NesQuik according to the directions and the color was a pale pink and the flavor also pale? So you mixed in like 15 tablespoons more to get it really flavorful and really pink? Yeah… that sort of pink. Like it’s neon battery powered.

I’m not a fan of “fruit punch” anyways. Don’t really care for fruit punch flavored drinks or candies or anything of the sort. Just not my preference, so it’s no surprise that I’m not a fan of this.

It reminded me of eating Fruit Loops cereal, but I do like Fruit Loops (tho I haven’t eaten them since I was a kid).

But again, like all the whey flavors, there’s nothing really nasty about this. It’s just not to my personal preferences. And this one probably won’t ever be. I’d sooner drink the Java Mocha.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #14 – Java Mocha

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Java Mocha.

No.

I’m not a coffee drinker. I never really cared for coffee flavored things. I recall as a child my mom would get coffee flavored ice cream; this reminded me of that ice cream (I mixed it in cold milk). Again, not a bad flavor if it’s your thing, but it’s not my thing.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #13 – Chocolate Peanut Butter

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Chocolate Peanut Butter.

This was pretty good. The peanut flavoring wasn’t too strong… maybe like a 65-35 split in favor of the chocolate. It was kinda weird tho. My brain said yeah, that’s peanut butter, but there was something missing. Maybe texture? Brain wanted a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup but wasn’t getting the expected mouthfeel? I don’t know. It wasn’t bad, just weird. 🙂

I kinda wanted a bit more peanut butter flavor, but this was fine. I reckon if I went through 10# of this I’d be fine, but if it was any stronger, probably not. So, leave it alone.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #12 – Dutch Chocolate Fudge

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Dutch Chocolate Fudge.

This is the first flavor that knocked my socks off. OOO… so good. Very rich, deep chocolate flavor. Not “candy like” sweeet or anything, but just good good good.

I like. I could see going through 10# of this. 🙂  And since yes I will be buying in bulk I have to think in those terms: something that tastes good that I could go through, not get tired of, still enjoy after 100 doses, etc..  This is the frontrunner so far. Yum.

True Nutrition Whey Flavor #11 – Banana Coconut

I bought the TrueNutrition.com 38 Flavor sample pack.

Banana Coconut. Or maybe it’s Coconut Banana. I don’t remember.

Either way tho, it’s a flavor mix of coconut and banana… that same sort of artificially sweet “Now and Later” candy banana flavor.

And it marks the first flavor I flat out don’t like.

The flavors are fundamentally the same as I’ve already tasted. The banana here is like all the other bananas I’ve had. The coconut here is like all the other coconuts I’ve had. But putting them together makes something that my palate says “no” on. Maybe it’s your thing, but it’s not mine.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not gross or horrible — so far none of the flavors are really all that bad. It’s just not something I could see wanting to drink much of again, by choice. Just too candy artificial sweet like.
