Random grossness

Actually… I have two random bits of grossness.

Random gross #1

The other day when I came home from the indoor range, I put a tissue up my nose to clean things out. When I pull the tissue out, there’s black on the tissue. Eh? I do a bit more cleaning in and around both nostrils and find more black. I am not 100% sure what it is, but I can only deduce it’s from the indoor range… all the smoke, especially given the guy shooting the muzzleloader in the bay next to me. Who knows what else I inhaled. This is just another reason why indoor ranges aren’t the greatest thing… or that Red’s needs to massively improve ventilation. Rather gross, and unsettling as to what I took into my body.

Random gross #2

The new kitty? She has the most god-awful farts, and has them rather frequently. Or at least, it seems the cause-effect is pick up kitty, get a nasty fart for your troubles.

Joy. 😕

Birthers – be careful what you wish for

This whole “birther” thing regarding whether President Obama is a natural born citizen or not… there’s one way to end it quickly: show the birth certificate.

I’ve never been a proponent of the “if you’ve got nothing to hide…” line of reasoning, but I do understand where it comes from. Furthermore, there’s no question that it does arouse suspicion because if things were the way you say they were and could easily prove it, why wouldn’t you? It would put an end to the whole thing. Done. ’nuff said.

So it is curious why President Obama doesn’t just put a simple end to this.

But the birthers have to realize one important thing. If you do get your way, then that means we’ll be stuck with President Biden.

I don’t know if that’s an improvement. 😉

Rare Star Wars photos

I’m not a major Star Wars geek, but I certainly enjoy the franchise and the movies.

Here’s a collection of some (supposedly) rare photos, mostly taken from the original movies. Outtakes and the like.

Note: the website is arguably NSFW. The Star Wars pictures are fine, just things like links/adverts to other pages for bikini clad women and such.

Sen. Murray supports states rights (when it’s convenient)

Joe Huffman has a nice little back and forth between himself and his US Senator Murray.

Joe’s original email was regarding support for the Thune Amendment. Says Sen. Murray:

Legislation to regulate the use of firearms is and should remain primarily a state issue.

Joe’s response:

Since you are of the opinion that legislation to regulate the use of firearms is, and should remain, primarily a state issue I presume I can count on your support of efforts to remove firearm regulations at the Federal level. I would like to suggest you introduce legislation to undo the continuing infringement of our rights inflicted by the following Federal firearms laws:

• National Firearms Act of 1934
• Gun Control Act of 1968
• The Hughes Amendment
• The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act

Once those are infringements have been successfully resolved I will be glad to provide you with a list of other Federal firearms laws that need to be eliminated as well.

Go read the whole thing.

Well done, Joe. I’m doubting you’ll get a response, or if you do that it will be anything more than boilerplate “thank you drive through”. Still, one can have a little hope that a worthwhile response may come from the Senator.

Ozzy Osbourne cheese

Daughter is nibbling on a foodstuff. Goes to share it with Wife/Mom:

Daughter: Here Mom. Have some Ozzy Osbourne cheese.

Wife: What?

Daughter: You know, the Ozzy Osbourne cheese!

Wife: Oh, you mean the asiago cheese!

🙂

We live long and are celebrated poopers

While the title is referencing the Nibblonians of Futurama, it’s all I could think of this morning. For you see, my morning ritual now includes washing my walkways and driveway of all the poop left by the muscovy ducks that congregate at my house. I am amazed how much poop one duck can produce.

Lessons learned from D&D

A rather amusing but strangely true post about real life lessons someone learned from playing Dungeons & Dragons.

I haven’t played D&D in years (decades?), but it sure was fun. I can certainly relate to the lessons learned.

The anti-quote of the day

Some people have a “quote of the day”. I saw this in someone’s signature and realized it’s a good anti-quote, because no you never hear it:

You never hear in the news, “200 killed today when Atheist rebels took heavy shelling from the Agnostic stronghold in the North.”
