Now I haz a happy.
Just went and checked on the nest. Looks like 5 more ducklings hatched overnight. Yes, one confirmed that didn’t make it, but 5 did. No idea if there are any more to come… hard to see the state of the eggs in the nest (are they shells? whole? in progress? duds? can’t tell right now). I reckon if we check again this evening, whatever we have by then will be the total.
I haz happy.

Hope they have better luck than the last clutch.
Yeah… the prior mallard’s brood just disappeared… no idea what happened to them. Poor momma there was running around for a couple days quacking hard trying to locate them. 😦
The muscovy momma that hatched her brood some weeks ago, she still has 9. They’re growing well, and adult feathers are just starting to come in. They’re doing fine.
So this new mallard brood… yeah, I do hope they’ll make it. Life will be whatever it will be.
Cute! It will be fun to watch them grow and the mom be a mom
Yeah, that’s one thing we love about the ducks in our neighborhood. Just watching them grow over the years.
