Dear world….

Please stop with this “zombie” thing.

It’s long played out.

It’s tired. Tho I guess congratulations to Hornady for making a lot of money by being in the right place at the right time with the right product.

We don’t have zombies eating people’s faces off… we have fucked up people eating people(‘s faces) off.

and now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go tie an onion to my belt.

  1. I’ll not give up Zombies until “The Simpsons” go away. Talk about Zombies, your Simpsons reference is twenty years old.

Anyhow, I have a theory on why Zombies are so popular today. We (or Hollywood) needed a new Generic Villain.

When we were younger Nazis and Red Commies were the Generic Villains. With the end of the Cold War Commies stopped being scary, and well, there haven’t been Nazis for a loong time. So, Zombies came in to fill that gap.
They may have taken a brief vacation from the Generic Villain role when Hollywood tried a few laps with Teh Terrorists as the Generic Villain. Everyone quickly grew tired of that because (despite the TSA’s best efforts) Teh Terrorists just aren’t that scary and, statistically speaking, about as likely as Zombies.

If you go farther back you have Jews filling the Generic Villain role in Grimm’s Fairy Tales and Mafia Gangsters in early twentieth century cinema.

  2. Up till now, I thought the whole “shoot zombies in the head” was code for “Aim for the blue helmets”.

Hey, it gets people shooting, injects capital into the gun industry, and is helping mainstream guns/shooting again. Added bonus, Zombie targets get people used to shooting at more realistic humanoid targets than the DPS Qualification/ B27 target.

It’s all good, and on a par with the ridiculousness of Cowboy Action Shooting.

    • Blue helmets… zing! 😉

I agree that it’s all good… I’m happy to see the growth, and like the Hornady rep said, it’s got a lot of cross-market appeal and that’s big.

I’m just tired of it all… it’s played out. But then, zombies and “horror” stuff was really never my thing.
