A teenager is stopped by TSA agents for a gun-shaped emblem on her purse.
“She was like, ‘This is a federal offense because it’s in the shape of a gun,'” Gibbs said. “I’m like, ‘But it’s a design on a purse. How is it a federal offense?'”
I can make my fingers into the shape of a gun. Is that a Federal offense? I know this country has gone off the deep end, but if that is the case then we’ve truly lost it.
“I carried this from Jacksonville to Norfolk, and I’ve carried it from Norfolk to Jacksonville,” Vanessa said. “Never once has anyone said anything about it until now.”
Even if the policy is legit, the inconsistent application of the policy is massive FAIL. Way to keep things “secure”.
A TSA official at JIA said it’s not that uncommon for passengers to wear something that could be considered a gun replica, but the official encourages everyone to check the prohibited items list, which can be found online or at the airport before going through security.
This is not a gun, nor a gun replica. Nor are purses on the prohibited items list.
They said we’d not live in fear, but they didn’t say we wouldn’t have to live with stupidity. *sigh*
At some level I welcome this level of stupidity from the TSA. Every time a story like this comes out it drives more and more away from supporting them.
You would think that, but “our glorious leaders” *eyeroll* still think this is A Good Thing™ that’s actually keeping us safe from harm.
Frankly, I have to think the real terrorists are sitting in their caves laughing their asses off. They accomplished their goal: they are making us “live in fear” (because crap like the TSA is a reaction to being afraid; things like passengers taking a crazed moron down in the aisle is not living in fear, that’s doing something about the problem). Their actions and the “spectre” of what could happen in the future are slowly destroying our society and culture…. so, yeah, they won.
But yes you’re right… slowly more and more people are waking up. We can hope.
I suppose the real question is which comes first the ‘revolution’ which overturns the fear based legislation when enough people see the light or the ‘collapse’. I pray for the former but prepare for both.
On a completely unrelated note, there appears to be some random white objects falling across your blog. Being a ‘Texan’ now, I’m unsure what these could be but I’m pretty sure it’s a bug.
🙂
Well, I have to wonder… with Tea Party and Occupy, I suspect we’re building perhaps towards revolution…. or both.
As for the white objects… that’s something wordpress.com does to their blogs this time of year. One can turn it off, but I think it’s fun. 🙂
Just one more on a growing list of reasons, if I can’t drive someplace, I’m never going to fly there.
Yup. I’m pretty much done with flying. Unfortunately, given the way the .gov overlords keep talking, I’m sure it’s a matter of time before we’ll have checkpoints on all our roads, at state borders, in train stations, bus stations, and eventually into our own bedrooms…..
