Incongruity

There’s varying levels of outrage about police activity in regards to the Occupy protests. Some see it as “they got what they asked for”, some see it as massive police brutality. However you look at it, it’s generally being framed as “police are bad”.

What gets me then is these same people tend to be anti-gun. They tend to say that private citizens shouldn’t be allowed to own guns — and the police are there to protect us.

So, the police both brutalize you and protect you… supposedly.

Hrm.

Y’all need to do something about your worldview. Maybe stop relying upon others so much, and expecting others to provide for you.

    I disagree with virtually everything that the OWS crowd stands for. That said, there are some damning videos of police in riot gear acting, IMHO, criminally badly.

    Frankly, I put my odds of being shot by a cop to be about the same as being shot by a more traditional thug. Sure, the odds of either are very low where I am. However, when a cop puts me down, he’s going to get a few weeks of “paid administrative leave” while the DA waits for the news story to blow over and not press charges.

    A couple of years ago around here there were two incidents in a period of about a week.
    A garbage truck backed up (like garbage trucks do…) over a kid and killed the kid. The DA seeks manslaughter charges against the driver.
    Meanwhile, on the other side of town.
    A cop is called out to a park because of a snake (harmless, as it turns out) in a tree. Cop shoots at snake, in the tree, misses, and the bullet comes to rest in a kid’s head on the other side of the park. Officers involved offered “deferred sentences” and fined $1000 by prosecutors.     The OWS a-holes whining about anything and everything is annoying and stupid, but it is independent from the Police a-holes being unnecessarily violent and stupid.

    OWS fanatics attack the Police in some areas, and nothing really happens.
    OWS whiners refuse to follow lawful commands, get maced for it, and the MSM explodes into the dirtbag good cop bad routine.

    Go figure!

    Political correctness in all it’s leftest glory too be sure.
