  1. the world is full of paranoid rednecks (but i repeat myself) who fail to consider how good they had it weapons-regulation-wise the last 4 years and who will hate the man solely because of who he is and what he represents to them. and hardly news considering they’re the weapons industry’s target (!) market.

did you see the hissy fit fox news threw last night? joe scarborough was reduced to chanting ‘bengasi, bengasi’ over and over like a rabid rubber doll despite none in that crew having the security clearance or the need-to-know to actually know anything, nor the brainpower to understand it were they given it. even one of the top republican spokesman admitted to scarborough they put up a batch of lunatics (his words) this year. truer words never spoken …

      1. if you paid attention to the debates, when the (only) 2nd-amendment question arose, there wasn’t a shiny dime’s worth of difference in the response of both candidates (as you rightly pointed out) and they both looked like they were barefoot on hot coals while responding.

but don’t take my word for it. here is some text from a website one wouldn’t expect to lean progressive, the business insider:

“Weighing the two candidates’ views on the Second Amendment, the tone that comes across is surprisingly similar – that while the “right to bear arms” is foundational, it is hardly absolute.

Despite the perception that Mr. Obama is anti-gun rights (gun shop owners say fear of his policies drives strong gun sales), he has repeatedly reaffirmed the right to bear arms. Indeed, the only gun-control laws he has signed as president have been to expand gun rights – allowing guns on national park lands and Amtrak trains. He also said this year that “hunting and shooting are part of a cherished national heritage.””

        [...]

“Former Massachusetts Governor Romney has taken the same line in the past, especially when he was the Republican executive of a Democratic state. “There’s no question I support Second Amendment rights, but I also support an assault weapon ban,” he said in 2007, referring to his signing of a Massachusetts assault-weapons ban in 2004.”

but we really know what the difference between obama and romney is in the eyes minds of the sorts of folks who buy up all the ammo in sight just because they think the end-of-the-world-as-they-know-it (aka WTSHTF) is coming to an end. and that world can’t end soon enough for me.

  2. don’t see a way to edit my comment. didn’t mean to imply scarborough was on fox–he’s on a nbc morning show. i meant rove demanding his own fox analysis team withdraw their call of ohio for obama which put him over the top. scarborough’s bengasi rant was the day before election day, showing how desperate he knew the situation to be even then.

  3. and now that i referenced my first comment, it looks like the page didn’t even accept the original comment. so i’ll confuse the issue even further and paste it back in:
